Martin J. Sullivan
Martin J. Sullivan, is Commonwealth Consulting Corporation’s President. Mr. Sullivan served in the military and Federal Government for over 26 years. He retired from active duty in the Marine Corps with the rank of Colonel.
Most recently, Mr. Sullivan was the Director for Current Military Operations and Defense Readiness in the Defense Policy and Arms Control Directorate of the National Security Council at the White House. There he was responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the advancement of U.S. defense policies, objectives, strategy, plans, and military operations. He has a wealth of knowledge on U.S. Government interagency issues regarding security, stability, and reconstruction operations.
Prior to his work on the National Security Council, Mr. Sullivan was the Deputy Branch Head for Aviation Programs and Weapons Systems Requirements at U.S. Marine Corps’ Headquarters and served as the Joint Chiefs of Staff Operations Officer for Information Operations and Special Technical Military Operations in the U.S. Central Command region. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sullivan served as the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer of Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron Four (VMAQ-4). He logged over 3,000 flight hours while on active duty primarily in the EA-6B, the A-6E and the F-18 aircraft and has flown 25 other models of military aircraft in test and evaluation scenarios.
Mr. Sullivan earned his Master of Business Administration from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He received a Master of Arts in National Security Studies at the USMC War College and was recognized as the distinguished graduate in his class. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He also attended the USAF Test Pilot School and was the distinguished graduate in his class. He is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, the U.S. Naval Institute, the Marine Corps Association, and the Marine Corps Aviation Association. He holds a TS Security clearance.
